The sleeve-gusset unit is pinned to the front-back
unit.
|
I stitch this very long, U shaped seam.
|
|
I press open the seam, and grade (trim) one side. |
I press the other seam side
over the raw edges, stitch it down, and topstitch it. |
|

I press up the bottom hem, and stitch it.
|
|
The
front band covers the raw edges of the front opening. Accuracy is
important here, because it would be easy to stretch the angled edge of
the front opening. I interface the bottom ends, measure and mark the
seams carefully. The entire band is pressed in half, and the edge
of the topstitched side is pressed into place.

|
Above left, the prepped band is pinned and sewn to the
front opening. Above right, the band is turned, pressed, and
pinned to the inside of the jacket. I topstitch the inside edge of
the band.
The jacket is now completely sewn. I give it a
final pressing.

The completed jacket above. Above right, the
completed jacket inside out. The seams are totally inconspicuous,
and extremely sturdy. At right, a close up of the underarm seam on
the inside of the jacket.
This jacket has been sold.
