I am excited to be a participant in the weekly Rockland Art Market this year. It is held on Thursdays June 24 - September 30 from 9am- 1pm. The location is Main St. Rockland on the corner of Harbor Park (across the street from the Time Out Pub). I will have a selection of hand woven items, original etchings and oil paintings. This show is canceled for inclement weather and will not be held the first two weeks of August due to Festivals in Harbor Park. As usual, visitors are also welcome to my home studio. Shawl Designs
I'm setting up my loom for a series of triangular shawls. Large rectangles (60" x 120") will be cut into 3 shawls. The designs are bold but the yarn and color combinations will add a unique subtlety to the cloth.
A close up of alpaca and rayon chenille fabric. The different shrinkage rates of the 2 yarns give the fabric a 3-D textured quality.
Weaving with Paper Etchings
I've been experimenting with combining etchings and weavings. To the left, pieces of rejected etchings are interlaced with silk. In the middle, etching pieces are cut into fine strips and woven into the cloth on the loom. To the right, an etching is cut and sewn and also inserted into the hand picked lace on the cloth.
